What are Your Gifts?

Many of us are aware of the things we naturally do well.

People may ask, “How did you get so good at ?” and your response may simply be, “I’m just good at it!” However, whatever your skill may be, it is a skill God has blessed and equipped you with.

But over time, many of us would agree through trial and error - or purely by God’s leading - each one of our gifts is revealed. You may believe these are the only type of gifts you have, but God is inviting us into more. He has a wide array of gifts available at His table. Paul encourages us in 1 Corinthians 12:31, “Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way.”

When it comes to spiritual gifts do you immediately know what are? I didn’t at first! If you don’t know my hope is this passage of scripture will encourage us today and highlight a way God is asking you to grow or step into today.

We read in Romans 12:3-8 further instructions on how our spiritual gifts are to be used.

“Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”

Romans 12:3-8 (NLT)

I’d encourage every reader to continue reading the entire chapter of Romans 12, but I want to focus on one key area. If God has equipped us with a gift we are to use it, not only use it but boldly use it!

Today and throughout your week you may be prompted by the Holy Spirit to do something: you’ve never done before or do something you may consider yourself an expert – either way JUMP IN!!

What gifts has God uniquely given to you? How can you use them for His glory?

Do not dismiss the gifts God has given you, use them generously!

P.S. Share one of the gifts God has given you and one way you are carrying His gentle love in the world!

Grace & Peace,
Addie! ☻

Thank you for reading! This blog post was initially shared as a morning devotional during my most recent mission trip to Dawson Springs, Kentucky, which I am so excited sharing about soon! ✌🏻
